3. Where does the name Bugaboo come from?

When designer Max Barenburg was looking for a name for the design of his stroller he looked in the dictionary under ‘buggy’. Then he was sure that this was the name for his ultimate stroller.

To protect your Bugaboo Bee from getting damaged during the flight and / or handling by airline personnel, a cushioned transport bag is available at an additional charge. The complete stroller fits in and this will reduce the risk of your stroller being damaged. Make sure you ask for two luggage tags and attach one to the chassis and one to either the seat or carrycot if you are using the stroller to the gate.

8. What is the procedure if my stroller gets damaged during the flight?

Bugaboo is not responsible for any damage to your Bugaboo stroller, incurred during airline transportation. New spare parts can be supplied, but the new parts and shipping cost will have to be paid by the costumer.

6. What is the appropriate and advised way to use the suspension on the Bugaboo Cameleon?

One of the distinctive features of the Bugaboo Cameleon is the adjustable suspension in the swivel wheels. As indicated in the user guide, the lightest suspension – the most horizontal position - offers ultimate comfort for a small child, whereas the stronger suspension, required for older or slightly heavier children is achieved in the most vertical position.

Since June 2006, the Bugaboo Cameleon stroller comes with a swivel wheel with 4 positions instead of 5. This is a small product change, as a result of evaluations based on customer feedback. Bugaboo learnt that consumers often put additional bags or groceries in the luggage bag of the stroller, thus (the child + items in under seat bag) exceeding quite easily the weight for the first position of the suspension. This leads to an uncomfortable ride. As a result, Bugaboo decided to remove the lightest suspension position.

7. Where do I go for service or help?

a. You can call JustKidding at +971 800 JUST (+971 800 5878) or visit the JustKidding store.
b. You can send an email to webshop@justkidding-me.com. We will then be in touch with you as soon as possible.

8. Why is there no longer a sleeping bag in the carrycot?

Experience has taught Bugaboo that most people like to use their own blankets. Therefore, Bugaboo has decided to discontinue the separate sleeping bag.

9. How do I attach the rain cover to the Bugaboo pushchair?

The rain cover fits both around the carrycot and around the seat. To provide adequate protection against the rain, the cover has to be placed tightly over the stroller – the rain cover is made of very sturdy materials. The black strip is attached at the foot of the stroller. When installing the rain cover, the top has to be placed over the hood of the stroller first. The sides of the rain cover drop down over the frames’ edge – they do not reach the bottom of the carrycot. This means the carry handle will stick through the slit in the rain cover, so that you can still carry the carrycot. You then pull the cover towards the foot of the stroller and place the pins into the catches at the side of the frame.

10. We want to take the Bugaboo stroller on the plane. Is that easy?

The Bugaboo stroller is good for travel. Most airlines allow you to take the Bugaboo Cameleon to the gate up to the point where you enter the plane. The airline staff will then place the stroller in the general luggage compartment and take it out as soon as you disembark from the plane. To protect your Bugaboo Cameleon from getting damaged during flight and / or handling by airline personnel, a cushioned transport bag is available at an additional charge. The complete stroller fits in and this will reduce the risk of your stroller being damaged. Make sure you ask for two luggage tags and attach one to the chassis and one to either the seat or carrycot if you re using the stroller to the gate.

11. What is the procedure if my stroller gets damaged during a flight?

Bugaboo is not responsible for any damage to your Bugaboo stroller, incurred during airline transportation. New spare parts can be supplied, but the new parts and shipping cost will have to be paid by the costumer.

12. Is the handle bar reversible?

Yes, the handle bar is reversible. It allows you to easily change and use the big wheels in the front for rough terrain or the small swivel wheels for city use.

13. Is the seat a separate part from the carrycot?

The whole idea of the Bugaboo is to keep things simple and efficient. Therefore, the same frame is used for bith the carrycot and the seat. It is only a matter of changing the fabric covers to make either one.

14. How long will my child fit in the Bugaboo?

Bugaboo is suitable for babies and toddlers from birth up to 17kg.

15. How big is the under seat bag?

Bugaboo felt the necessity of keeping the stroller fully collapsible with the under seat bag, thus limiting its size. The under seat bag is of modest size and fully removable. Its is suspended underneath the frame and can be reached from two sides. The elastic fastenings allow for the storage of several items.

16. What is the black strap hanging from the handle bar?

This is a safety strap. It should be attached to the wrist of the parent or guardian as an additional safety guard while pushing the Bugaboo or while using the 2-wheeled position.

17. Does the rain cover and the sun canopy fit both the carry cot and seat?

18. What is the weight of the Bugaboo Cameleon?

Bugaboo Accessories

1. Are the accessories for the Bugaboo Bee and the Bugaboo Cameleon the same?

The accessories such as the parasol and cup holder are the same. The basic features such as the chassis, the carrycot, the seat fabric, and the wheels are not interchangeable.

2. What accessories are available for the Bugaboo Cameleon?

Apart from the Bugaboo Cameleon there are several functional accessories to choose from.

  • A parasol with UV protection shields away from the sun.
  • A foot muff ideal for cold months.
  • A diaper bag that contains a changing mat and special compartments for nappies, wipes, pots and two padded round compartments to keep your milk bottles warm.
  • Adapters for car seats.
  • Wheeled board to be used by an older child.
  • A transport bag, specifically designed for transporting the Bugaboo strollers.
  • A cup holder.
  • A breezy sun canopy.

3. What is the difference between the under seat bag, the diaper bag and the transport bag?

The under seat bag hangs under the seat or carrycot and is useful for any shopping items or necessities that you want to bring along. It is attached to the chassis between the wheel axes. In order to fold the chassis, the bag has to be empty. The diaper bag contains a changing mat and special compartments for nappies, wipes, pots and two padded round compartments to keep your milk bottles warm. The transport bag is specifically designed for transporting Bugaboo strollers. Once folded it is easy to place the stroller in the transport bag.

4. How do I attach the wheeled board?

Start by putting the clamps on the bar between the big wheels. Inside the clamps you find a code with ‘L’ for left side and one with ‘R’ for the right side. Place the clamps with the opening backwards and then you push the clamp as far as you can to the sides (over the black plastic). It is recommended that the Bugaboo is first placed on its side. If you look at the clamps you see there is a little ‘roof’ where you can slide the board underneath. At the JustKidding store we can always lend you a hand.

5. How is the parasol attached?

In order to attach the parasol properly it is important that it is always attached over the foam. The parasol clamp has a sharp edge on top and a round edge underneath. It is very important that the sharp edge is first placed around the foam. Then the round edge is pushed around the foam. After you have done this, the parasol can be fixed into the right position. With the Bugaboo Cameleon, the parasol is usually attached to the foam on the seat frame or on the carry handle.

6. What kinds of adapters are available and to which car seats do they belong?

Adapters are available for the Maxi Cosi, for the following models: the City, the Mico, the Cabrio Fix and the Pebble.

7. Are the Bugaboo accessories included in the warranty?

If an accessory breaks or gets damaged within the warranty period, we will provide you with a replacement.

8. If I need a new spare part, were can I get it?

If a spare part gets damaged during the warranty period, you can send an e-mail to our helpdesk at: webshop@justkidding-me.com, containing the following information: the serial number, your warranty card, your full address and a photograph of the damaged part. We will contact you upon receipt of your e-mail.

9. The large wheels on my Bugaboo Cameleon are going flat, what should I do?

Unfortunately, the tires are not covered under the warranty. We can provide you with new tubes but you would have to pay for the tubes and the shipping. Bugaboo also supplies the new foam filled wheels as an accessory that you can buy as a replacement for your old wheels. From 2008 onwards, the Bugaboo comes with foam filled wheels. In addition, the wheels do not add to the total weight of the stroller.

Maxicosi

1. You often hear that a baby should not lie in a car seat for 2 hours or more. Is this true?

Children should not lie unnecessarily in the same position for too long. They should have the opportunity to develop their motor skills and their arm, back and neck muscles. We recommend a change of position every 2 hours. After all, a baby has to eat and be changed regularly.

2. How long is the warranty for the car seats?

The car seat comes with a warranty of six months. If, under your warranty, anything gets broken or damaged we need your original receipt stating the original purchasing date in order to replace any parts.

3. Does the manufacturer of the Maxi-Cosi car seats have factory sales?

No, the Maxi-Cosi safety products are sold exclusively via Nursery Retailers, there is no factory sale.

4. Can I position a car seat on the front passenger seat?

All children should travel in the back seat of the car in an approved car seat. A baby car seat from Group 0 or 0+ can only be used in the front seat if no frontal airbag is present on the passenger side. If you must travel with a Group I, II or III seat in the front, we recommend that the front seat should be moved back as far as possible if an airbag is present.

5. What should I do if the belts in my car are too short to attach the car seat?

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution for this. If the belts in your car are too short, we can only recommend that you contact the car manufacturer via your garage. Please note: if this involves the passenger seat, always check that this is positioned as far back as possible. In this position, the belts are the longest. Of course, careful attention should be paid to the instructions regarding airbags. We recommend that you fit the car seat first before purchasing it. At JustKidding we can help you with this.

6. Do the Maxi-Cosi car seats fit in all cars?

The Maxi-Cosi car seats have been developed as universal car seats. This means that they should fit in almost any car.

7. What should I do if my child opens the buckle of his harness belt?

In this case we recommend, as do all international safety experts, that you stop immediately in a safe place, fasten the buckle once more and tell the child he should not open it and the reason for this. It is always a possibility that an inventive, handy or strong child will open the buckle. If the force required to open the buckle were to be considerably increased to make it impossible for the child to open it himself, this would be contrary to the statutory safety standard. The position of the buckle, the colour of the button and the operating or opening force are all laid down in the European standards. In the case of an accident, someone giving assistance without knowledge of car seats must be able to immediately see how to release the child from a car seat in an emergency.

8. When should my child move out of his first Maxi-Cosi baby car seat into the next car seat?
We recommend that your child remain in the first car seat, Group 0 or 0+ (facing backwards), as long as possible because this is the safest and generally the most comfortable position. Only when the crown of the child’s head comes up to the edge of the shell is it time to move on to the next car seat. The length of the child’s legs is not an important factor here. It is extremely unwise to put a child into a larger, forward-facing car seat too early.

9. I have had an accident while the car seat, without child, was fitted. Should the car seat be replaced?

This depends on many factors and there is no simple answer to this. The load on an empty car seat is, of course, less. If it is a minor accident, the seat may not be damaged. We can only recommend that you contact your retailer and explain clearly at what speed the accident took place and whether the car was hit from the front, the side or the rear. In case of a frontal collision at more than 20 km/h with an empty seat, we recommend that you replace both the seat and the car seat belt. Both the seat and seat belt may be damaged by invisible damage or stretching and therefore are no longer safe. It is almost impossible to determine the effect of the accident on the safety of the car seat. This would only be clear in a second accident and this is exactly what we want to prevent. If you are in any doubt at all, we recommend that you replace the car seat after an accident and destroy the old one. In most cases your car insurance will reimburse the damage.

10. I have had an accident while the child was sitting in the car seat. Can I still use the seat?

Child car seats should not be used for longer than 5 to 6 years after the purchase date. The gradual ageing of the plastic (for instance under the influence of sunlight) may unnoticeably reduce the quality of the product. This also has consequences for safety. Car seats from a reliable source always have production clocks. This means that you can read on all plastic parts how old a product is. Never use seats with orange ECE marks that came onto the market before seats with the ECE R44/03 approval. This R44/03 norm dates from 1 September 1994 and a seat older than this, e.g.R44/02 or R44/01, is definitely no longer safe to install in present-day cars and are therefore dangerous.

11. Is it safe to use second-hand car seats?

No, this is not safe. You often do not know the history of a second-hand car seat. Therefore, you never know what has happened to it. It may have been involved in a previous accident, be damaged in some way or no longer be complete. The lack of user instructions is a good reason not to use a second-hand car seat.

12. Why is it necessary to put children older than 4 years on a booster seat?

Because these children are still too small for the use of the normal seat belt. A booster seat, although superseded in the meantime, provides a better guide for the seat belt. The seat belt is held low over the hips and in front of the pelvis and prevents the “submarineing” effect (sliding under the belt in the direction of travel). This reduces the likelihood of dangerous internal injuries to the stomach area. A child has then much more protection during an accident. The modern booster seats are even safer as they have a backrest with head support. They provide a higher level of protection in the case of sideways impacts. Moreover, the diagonal or shoulder belt is passed more safely over the shoulder by means of belt guides and not along the neck of the child. Examples of this type of booster seats are the Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS and the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP.

13. Is it possible to order loose covers?

Loose covers are available in limited designs. Consult us for information on delivery times and prices. Please note: always use an original cover as the cover also forms part of the total safety of a car seat.

14. Is it possible to order loose belt protectors?

Belt protectors can be ordered per set in limited colours. Consult us for information on delivery times and prices.

15. Where can I order loose parts?

Contact us to order loose parts. You can also consult us for information on delivery times and prices.

16. Is the cover washable?

The cover can be washed by hand (maximum 30 degrees). Please pay attention to the washing instructions on the cover. Spin gently and do not use a tumble drier.

17. When my child is wearing a winter coat, the belts of the car seat are too tight. What can I do? Is my child ready for a larger seat?

If clothing is too thick or voluminous, this prevents the belt from being tightened properly. The proper tightening of the belt is extremely important for the safety of a child. For this safety, the following applies: the tighter the belt, the better. Therefore, dress your child in a manner appropriate to the inside temperature of the car. In this way, you prevent a child from moving on to a larger seat too early. Do not change the seat before the child has reached the age and the correct weight to go to the next level of car seat. To keep a baby warm, there are special warm foot covers available for the Maxi-Cosi Citi and Cabrio(Fix).

18. I cannot fit the Maxi-Cosi Priori car seat properly in my car. Am I doing something wrong?

It does happen that in spite of the instructions on the stickers (on the side of the Maxi-Cosi Priori) and in the user instructions people still place the diagonal or shoulder belt in the two red belt clamps. This will not work. Loosen the Maxi-Cosi Priori and install it again and this time exactly according to the user instructions, with the shoulder belt only attached in a red belt clamp on one side where the belt goes up to the roll-up mechanism. Close this clamp and then pull the shoulder belt tight. Check the attachment. Although there is still a small amount of movement, the seat should now be fixed firmly in the car.

19. Can the Maxi-Cosi car seats also be attached using Iso-Fix?

The Iso-Fix is a new attachment system for car seats in modern cars. With this system, special Iso-Fix anchors points are attached on the car body at the factory. The seat is therefore no longer attached using seat belts. The system was specially developed to facilitate installation in the car and to make it impossible to install the car seat incorrectly or misuse it. It is estimated that 65 to 80% of all car seats are installed incorrectly in one way or another. Something had to be done about this. A normal car seat that has been on the market for a number of years cannot be used with this Iso-Fix system. The Iso-Fix seats have been specially developed for this system and have Iso-Fix adapters. Maxi-Cosi Iso-Fix seats have been launched into the market: the Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix, Maxi-Cosi Pebble with an Iso-Fix base for babies (Group 0+) and the Maxi-Cosi Priori-Fix and the maxi-Cosi Pebble for children from about 9 months to 4 years (Group I).

20. The cover of my car seat is discoloured. What can I do?

If your car seat still falls under the warranty time frame, a new car cover will be provided. Please note: with normal wear and tear, the cover will not be replaced free of charge. If your warranty has expired, we can order a new cover for you. Please contact a customer service representative for further information.

21. After removing the car seat I saw impressions in my car upholstery and the seat belt. Is that normal?

Yes, this can happen. This is unavoidable due to tight statutory safety standards of the European Government and consequently the greater force with which child car seats must be tightened during installation. This is a sign of the safety (the manufacturer cannot be held responsible or liable).

22. My car seat is faulty, what should I do?

If your car seat is faulty, please call one of our customer service representatives or visit the JustKidding store for help. In order to replace the faulty item, we need your original receipt stating the original purchasing date.

2. Can you attach a ride-along board to a Quinny stroller?

A stroller can support on average a load of 20 kilos. A ride-along board gives a much higher one-sided load than is good for a stroller. The use of a board of this kind can therefore drastically reduce the life of your stroller. Moreover, you forfeit the right to the factory guarantee by this “misuse”.

3. Does Quinny also do twin strollers?

No, Quinny does not have any twin strollers in its range.

4. What is the warranty on the Quinny stroller?

7. The tires on my stroller wear quickly. Can I do anything about this?

It is of course normal that the tires of a stroller, just like on a bicycle, wear with intensive usage. With the correct treatment, however, this can be reduced to some extent. Firstly, all air tires on the stroller should have the correct pressure (at least 1.5 bar). This reduces the friction. Pushing with soft tires and pushing the stroller in sharp corners without lifting up or pushing down results in premature and abnormal wear. Often the stroller is overloaded with a second child or heavy shopping so that the maximum carrying force is exceeded. This will also cause the tires to wear more quickly. It is possible to order new outer tires. Please contact us for more information.

8. What are the dimensions of the Quinny-Dreami?

The total external dimensions (measured with the canopy up) are: Length x Width x Height; 84 x 48.5 x 59.7 cm, with a Net weight of 5 kg. The Dreami can be used up to a weight of about 9 kg.
