FAQ: Products & Guarantees

Bugaboo

1. Does Bugaboo provide a double stroller?

Yes, Bugaboo offers the Bugaboo Donkey Mono, Duo and Twin. This versatile stroller can be used for one child (Donkey Mono) and can be extended to accommodate two children of different ages upon arrival of a new family member (Donkey Duo). The Bugaboo Twin accommodates two children of the same age.

2. What is Bugaboo’s mission?

Bugaboo increases freedom of movement and makes people’s mobility flexible, simple and light with functional and innovative products. A Bugaboo distinguishes itself through integrated functionality and its streamlined design, its clear applicability and its own unique personality; it is smart, exciting, no-nonsense. A Bugaboo product has to bring something new to the market: an innovative product that makes all the difference. This philosophy is not only limited to their strollers.

3. Where does the name Bugaboo come from?

When designer Max Barenburg was looking for a name for the design of his stroller he looked in the dictionary under ‘buggy’. Right above it he saw the word bugaboo, instinctively he knew this would be the right name for his design. He read the meaning of the word: endless, without boarders, pushing the limits. Then he was sure that this was the name for his ultimate stroller.

4. Where do I go for service or help?

a. You can call JustKidding® at +971 800 JUST (+971 800 5878) or visit the JustKidding® store.
b. You can send an email to helpdesk@justkidding-me.com . We will then be in touch with you as soon as possible.

5. Is the handle bar reversible?

No, the Bugaboo Bee is designed to be a compact stroller. Its unique swivel wheel system makes an easy 360 degree turn, and the forgiving foam filled tires with independent 4-wheel suspension all work together to make a day out in the city easy, controlled and comfortable. The Bugaboo Bee has 4 tires the same size unlike the Bugaboo Gecko and Cameleon.

6. How long will my child fit in the Bugaboo?

Bugaboo is suitable for babies and toddlers from birth up to 17kg.

7. Is the Bugaboo Bee considered the same as hand luggage when flying?

No, the Bugaboo Bee is not considered as hand luggage. Most airlines allow you to take the Bugaboo Bee to the gate up to the point where you enter the plane. The airline staff will then place the stroller in the general luggage compartment and take it out as soon as you disembark from the plane. To protect your Bugaboo Bee from getting damaged during the flight and / or handling by airline personnel, a cushioned transport bag is available at an additional charge. The complete stroller fits in and this will reduce the risk of your stroller being damaged. Make sure you ask for two luggage tags and attach one to the chassis and one to either the seat or carrycot if you are using the stroller to the gate.

8. What is the procedure if my stroller gets damaged during the flight?

Bugaboo is not responsible for any damage to your Bugaboo stroller, incurred during airline transportation. New spare parts can be supplied, but the new parts and shipping cost will have to be paid by the costumer.

9. How big is the under seat bag?

Bugaboo felt the necessity of keeping the stroller fully collapsible with the under seat bag, thus limiting its size. The under seat bag is of modest size and fully removable. Its is suspended underneath the frame and can be reached from two sides. The elastic fastenings allow for the storage of several items.

10. What is the weight of the Bugaboo Bee?

7kgs including the chassis, the seat, and the wheels.

Bugaboo Cameleon

1. What is the warranty period?

The warranty period is 2 years, providing you have filled out your warranty card. You can send your warranty card by post or register it online.

2. What is in the Bugaboo Cameleon box?

The Bugaboo Cameleon comes with a 2-year international warranty, a frame, a seat, a carrycot, a sun canopy, a rain cover and a shopping basket. Accessories like a foot muff, a parasol, a transport bag, or the adapters for your car seat are not included.

3. Will the tailored fabric fleece on the Bugaboo Cameleon pile?

No. In order to avoid piling Bugaboo has developed a special short pile structure for its fleece, this ensures that the material will not pile, not even after long term and intensive use.

4. How do I wash the fleece on the Bugaboo Cameleon?

  • Machine wash at 30ºC
  • Do not use bleach
  • Do not iron
  • Do not dry clean
  • Do not tumble dry. The fleece fabric dries quickly,. when hung out straight after washing. The fabric hardly creases.

5. How do I clean the fabric?

All the fabric (for the seat, the carry cot, the under seat bag, and the canopy) are removable and machine washable at 30ºC.

6. What is the appropriate and advised way to use the suspension on the Bugaboo Cameleon?

One of the distinctive features of the Bugaboo Cameleon is the adjustable suspension in the swivel wheels. As indicated in the user guide, the lightest suspension – the most horizontal position - offers ultimate comfort for a small child, whereas the stronger suspension, required for older or slightly heavier children is achieved in the most vertical position.

Since June 2006, the Bugaboo Cameleon stroller comes with a swivel wheel with 4 positions instead of 5. This is a small product change, as a result of evaluations based on customer feedback. Bugaboo learnt that consumers often put additional bags or groceries in the luggage bag of the stroller, thus (the child + items in under seat bag) exceeding quite easily the weight for the first position of the suspension. This leads to an uncomfortable ride. As a result, Bugaboo decided to remove the lightest suspension position.

7. Where do I go for service or help?

a. You can call JustKidding® at +971 800 JUST (+971 800 5878) or visit the JustKidding® store.
b. You can send an email to helpdesk@justkidding-me.com. We will then be in touch with you as soon as possible.

8. Why is there no longer a sleeping bag in the carrycot?

Experience has taught Bugaboo that most people like to use their own blankets. Therefore, Bugaboo has decided to discontinue the separate sleeping bag.

9. How do I attach the rain cover to the Bugaboo pushchair?

The rain cover fits both around the carrycot and around the seat. To provide adequate protection against the rain, the cover has to be placed tightly over the stroller – the rain cover is made of very sturdy materials. The black strip is attached at the foot of the stroller. When installing the rain cover, the top has to be placed over the hood of the stroller first. The sides of the rain cover drop down over the frames’ edge – they do not reach the bottom of the carrycot. This means the carry handle will stick through the slit in the rain cover, so that you can still carry the carrycot. You then pull the cover towards the foot of the stroller and place the pins into the catches at the side of the frame.

10. We want to take the Bugaboo stroller on the plane. Is that easy?

The Bugaboo stroller is good for travel. Most airlines allow you to take the Bugaboo Cameleon to the gate up to the point where you enter the plane. The airline staff will then place the stroller in the general luggage compartment and take it out as soon as you disembark from the plane. To protect your Bugaboo Cameleon from getting damaged during flight and / or handling by airline personnel, a cushioned transport bag is available at an additional charge. The complete stroller fits in and this will reduce the risk of your stroller being damaged. Make sure you ask for two luggage tags and attach one to the chassis and one to either the seat or carrycot if you are using the stroller to the gate.

11. What is the procedure if my stroller gets damaged during a flight?

Bugaboo is not responsible for any damage to your Bugaboo stroller, incurred during airline transportation. New spare parts can be supplied, but the new parts and shipping cost will have to be paid by the costumer.

12. Is the handle bar reversible?

Yes, the handle bar is reversible. It allows you to easily change and use the big wheels in the front for rough terrain or the small swivel wheels for city use.

13. Is the seat a separate part from the carrycot?

The whole idea of the Bugaboo is to keep things simple and efficient. Therefore, the same frame is used for both the carrycot and the seat. It is only a matter of changing the fabric covers to make either one.

14. How long will my child fit in the Bugaboo?

Bugaboo is suitable for babies and toddlers from birth up to 17kg.

16. What is the black strap hanging from the handle bar?

This is a safety strap. It should be attached to the wrist of the parent or guardian as an additional safety guard while pushing the Bugaboo or while using the 2-wheeled position.

17. Does the rain cover and the sun canopy fit both the carry cot and seat?

Bugaboo Accessories

1. Are the accessories for the Bugaboo Bee /Cameleon/Donkey/Buffalo the same?

The accessories such as the parasol and cup holder are the same. The basic features such as the chassis, the carrycot, the seat fabric, and the wheels are not interchangeable.

2. What accessories are available for the Bugaboo Cameleon?

Apart from the Bugaboo Cameleon there are several functional accessories to choose from.

  • A parasol with UV protection shields away from the sun.
  • A foot muff ideal for cold months.
  • A diaper bag that contains a changing mat and special compartments for nappies, wipes, pots and two padded round compartments to keep your milk bottles warm.
  • Adapters for car seats.
  • Wheeled board to be used by an older child.
  • A transport bag, specifically designed for transporting the Bugaboo strollers.
  • A cup holder.
  • A breezy sun canopy.

3. What is the difference between the under seat bag, the diaper bag and the transport bag?

The under seat bag hangs under the seat or carrycot and is useful for any shopping items or necessities that you want to bring along. It is attached to the chassis between the wheel axes. In order to fold the chassis, the bag has to be empty. The diaper bag contains a changing mat and special compartments for nappies, wipes, pots and two padded round compartments to keep your milk bottles warm. The transport bag is specifically designed for transporting Bugaboo strollers. Once folded it is easy to place the stroller in the transport bag.

4. How do I attach the wheeled board?

Start by putting the clamps on the bar between the big wheels. Inside the clamps you find a code with ‘L’ for left side and one with ‘R’ for the right side. Place the clamps with the opening backwards and then you push the clamp as far as you can to the sides (over the black plastic). It is recommended that the Bugaboo is first placed on its side. If you look at the clamps you see there is a little ‘roof’ where you can slide the board underneath. At the JustKidding® store we can always lend you a hand.

5. How is the parasol attached?

In order to attach the parasol properly it is important that it is always attached over the foam. The parasol clamp has a sharp edge on top and a round edge underneath. It is very important that the sharp edge is first placed around the foam. Then the round edge is pushed around the foam. After you have done this, the parasol can be fixed into the right position. With the Bugaboo Cameleon, the parasol is usually attached to the foam on the seat frame or on the carry handle.

Unfortunately, the tires are not covered under the warranty. We can provide you with new tubes but you would have to pay for the tubes and the shipping. Bugaboo also supplies the new foam filled wheels as an accessory that you can buy as a replacement for your old wheels. From 2008 onwards, the Bugaboo comes with foam filled wheels. In addition, the wheels do not add to the total weight of the stroller.

1. You often hear that a baby should not lie in a car seat for 2 hours or more. Is this true?

Children should not lie unnecessarily in the same position for too long. They should have the opportunity to develop their motor skills and their arm, back and neck muscles. We recommend a change of position every 2 hours. After all, a baby has to eat and be changed regularly.

2. How long is the warranty for the car seats?

The car seat comes with a warranty of six months. If, under your warranty, anything gets broken or damaged we need your original receipt stating the original purchasing date in order to replace any parts.

3. Does the manufacturer of the Maxi-Cosi car seats have factory sales?

No, the Maxi-Cosi safety products are sold exclusively via Nursery Retailers, there is no factory sale.

4. Can I position a car seat on the front passenger seat?

All children should travel in the back seat of the car in an approved car seat. A baby car seat from Group 0 or 0+ can only be used in the front seat if no frontal airbag is present on the passenger side. If you must travel with a Group I, II or III seat in the front, we recommend that the front seat should be moved back as far as possible if an airbag is present.

5. What should I do if the belts in my car are too short to attach the car seat?

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution for this. If the belts in your car are too short, we can only recommend that you contact the car manufacturer via your garage. Please note: if this involves the passenger seat, always check that this is positioned as far back as possible. In this position, the belts are the longest. Of course, careful attention should be paid to the instructions regarding airbags. We recommend that you fit the car seat first before purchasing it. At JustKidding® we can help you with this.

6. Do the Maxi-Cosi car seats fit in all cars?

The Maxi-Cosi car seats have been developed as universal car seats. This means that they should fit in almost any car.

7. What should I do if my child opens the buckle of his harness belt?

In this case we recommend, as do all international safety experts, that you stop immediately in a safe place, fasten the buckle once more and tell the child he should not open it and the reason for this. It is always a possibility that an inventive, handy or strong child will open the buckle. If the force required to open the buckle were to be considerably increased to make it impossible for the child to open it himself, this would be contrary to the statutory safety standard. The position of the buckle, the colour of the button and the operating or opening force are all laid down in the European standards. In the case of an accident, someone giving assistance without knowledge of car seats must be able to immediately see how to release the child from a car seat in an emergency.

8. When should my child move out of his first Maxi-Cosi baby car seat into the next car seat?
We recommend that your child remain in the first car seat, Group 0 or 0+ (facing backwards), as long as possible because this is the safest and generally the most comfortable position. Only when the crown of the child’s head comes up to the edge of the shell is it time to move on to the next car seat. The length of the child’s legs is not an important factor here. It is extremely unwise to put a child into a larger, forward-facing car seat too early.

9. I have had an accident while the car seat, without child, was fitted. Should the car seat be replaced?

This depends on many factors and there is no simple answer to this. The load on an empty car seat is, of course, less. If it is a minor accident, the seat may not be damaged. We can only recommend that you contact your retailer and explain clearly at what speed the accident took place and whether the car was hit from the front, the side or the rear. In case of a frontal collision at more than 20 km/h with an empty seat, we recommend that you replace both the seat and the car seat belt. Both the seat and seat belt may be damaged by invisible damage or stretching and therefore are no longer safe. It is almost impossible to determine the effect of the accident on the safety of the car seat. This would only be clear in a second accident and this is exactly what we want to prevent. If you are in any doubt at all, we recommend that you replace the car seat after an accident and destroy the old one. In most cases your car insurance will reimburse the damage.

10. I have had an accident while the child was sitting in the car seat. Can I still use the seat?

Child car seats should not be used for longer than 5 to 6 years after the purchase date. The gradual ageing of the plastic (for instance under the influence of sunlight) may unnoticeably reduce the quality of the product. This also has consequences for safety. Car seats from a reliable source always have production clocks. This means that you can read on all plastic parts how old a product is. Never use seats with orange ECE marks that came onto the market before seats with the ECE R44/03 approval. This R44/03 norm dates from 1 September 1994 and a seat older than this, e.g.R44/02 or R44/01, is definitely no longer safe to install in present-day cars and are therefore dangerous.

11. Is it safe to use second-hand car seats?

No, this is not safe. You often do not know the history of a second-hand car seat. Therefore, you never know what has happened to it. It may have been involved in a previous accident, be damaged in some way or no longer be complete. The lack of user instructions is a good reason not to use a second-hand car seat.

12. Why is it necessary to put children older than 4 years on a booster seat?

Because these children are still too small for the use of the normal seat belt. A booster seat, although superseded in the meantime, provides a better guide for the seat belt. The seat belt is held low over the hips and in front of the pelvis and prevents the “submarineing” effect (sliding under the belt in the direction of travel). This reduces the likelihood of dangerous internal injuries to the stomach area. A child has then much more protection during an accident. The modern booster seats are even safer as they have a backrest with head support. They provide a higher level of protection in the case of sideways impacts. Moreover, the diagonal or shoulder belt is passed more safely over the shoulder by means of belt guides and not along the neck of the child. Examples of this type of booster seats are the Maxi-Cosi Rodi SPS and the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XP.

13. Is it possible to order loose covers?

Loose covers are available in limited designs. Consult us for information on delivery times and prices. Please note: always use an original cover as the cover also forms part of the total safety of a car seat.

14. Is it possible to order loose belt protectors?

Belt protectors can be ordered per set in limited colours. Consult us for information on delivery times and prices.

15. Where can I order loose parts?

Contact us to order loose parts. You can also consult us for information on delivery times and prices.

16. Is the cover washable?

The cover can be washed by hand (maximum 30 degrees). Please pay attention to the washing instructions on the cover. Spin gently and do not use a tumble drier.

17. When my child is wearing a winter coat, the belts of the car seat are too tight. What can I do? Is my child ready for a larger seat?

If clothing is too thick or voluminous, this prevents the belt from being tightened properly. The proper tightening of the belt is extremely important for the safety of a child. For this safety, the following applies: the tighter the belt, the better. Therefore, dress your child in a manner appropriate to the inside temperature of the car. In this way, you prevent a child from moving on to a larger seat too early. Do not change the seat before the child has reached the age and the correct weight to go to the next level of car seat. To keep a baby warm, there are special warm foot covers available for the Maxi-Cosi Citi and Cabrio(Fix).

18. I cannot fit the Maxi-Cosi Priori car seat properly in my car. Am I doing something wrong?

It does happen that in spite of the instructions on the stickers (on the side of the Maxi-Cosi Priori) and in the user instructions people still place the diagonal or shoulder belt in the two red belt clamps. This will not work. Loosen the Maxi-Cosi Priori and install it again and this time exactly according to the user instructions, with the shoulder belt only attached in a red belt clamp on one side where the belt goes up to the roll-up mechanism. Close this clamp and then pull the shoulder belt tight. Check the attachment. Although there is still a small amount of movement, the seat should now be fixed firmly in the car.

19. Can the Maxi-Cosi car seats also be attached using Iso-Fix?

The Iso-Fix is a new attachment system for car seats in modern cars. With this system, special Iso-Fix anchors points are attached on the car body at the factory. The seat is therefore no longer attached using seat belts. The system was specially developed to facilitate installation in the car and to make it impossible to install the car seat incorrectly or misuse it. It is estimated that 65 to 80% of all car seats are installed incorrectly in one way or another. Something had to be done about this. A normal car seat that has been on the market for a number of years cannot be used with this Iso-Fix system. The Iso-Fix seats have been specially developed for this system and have Iso-Fix adapters. Maxi-Cosi Iso-Fix seats have been launched into the market: the Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix, Maxi-Cosi Pebble with an Iso-Fix base for babies (Group 0+) and the Maxi-Cosi Pearl for children from about 9 months to 4 years (Group I).

20. The cover of my car seat is discolored. What can I do?

If your car seat still falls under the warranty time frame, a new car cover will be provided. Please note: with normal wear and tear, the cover will not be replaced free of charge. If your warranty has expired, we can order a new cover for you. Please contact a customer service representative for further information.

21. After removing the car seat I saw impressions in my car upholstery and the seat belt. Is that normal?

Yes, this can happen. This is unavoidable due to tight statutory safety standards of the European Government and consequently the greater force with which child car seats must be tightened during installation. This is a sign of the safety (the manufacturer cannot be held responsible or liable).

22. My car seat is faulty, what should I do?

If your car seat is faulty, please call one of our customer service representatives or visit the JustKidding® store for help. In order to replace the faulty item, we need your original receipt stating the original purchasing date.

23. Can 3 car seats fit on the back seat of my car?
Depending on the type of car, 3 seats may fit on the back seat. We recommend taking your car to the retailer check this.

24. Can the Maxi-Cosi Family Fix Base be installed in any car?
No, the Maxi-Cosi Family Fix can only be installed in cars equipped with the IsoFix system. There are, however, some exceptions to this. See the “list of car makes” at www.maxi-cosi.com

25. From what age can the support pillow be removed from the Maxi-Cosi car seat?
The support pillow provides your child with added comfort right after birth. There is no specific age at which the support pillow should be removed from the Maxi-Cosi car seat. This depends on the size of your child. Once you notice that your child is no longer lying comfortably because his or her head is lying on the ‘roll’, you can remove the support pillow from the Maxi-Cosi car seat.

26. Why do babies have to travel in a rear-facing position?
Babies have a large and heavy head compared to the rest of their body. In addition, their neck muscles are not yet fully developed. If the baby is transported in a forward-facing position, his or her head will be thrown forward in the event of a head-on collision. This can cause serious neck injury and may even be fatal. By placing the baby in a rear-facing position, the forces exerted during the crash will be distributed across the baby’s entire back.

27. Are children taller than 1.35meters required to sit in a child car seat?
No, but they must wear a car seat belt! Please note that the height limit for Republic of Ireland is 1.5m.

28. How should I clean the car seat?
You can clean the car seat with a vacuum cleaner. You can also blow it clean with compressed air. Any food remains that are stuck to it can be removed using a slightly damp cloth. Make sure that the foam parts do not get wet.

29. When should I make the transition from a Group 1 seat to a Group 2/3 seat?
For the safety of your child, we recommend using the Group 1 car seat (9 months to 3 ½ years 9-18 kg) for as long as possible. Wait to switch your child to a next stage car seat when your child has reached the maximum weight limit or if the top of your child’s head protrudes above the top edge of the seat. As long as the back of your child’s head is fully supported by the shell, we advise against making the switch just yet, so that your child can be offered the best possible protection.

30. Is IsoFix safer than installing with a car seat belt?
If installed properly, a Maxi-Cosi car seat is the safest in its class. The IsoFix method prevents incorrect installation of the car seat, but is no safer than when the seat is installed using the traditional method. IsoFix prevents incorrect installation because a color indicator (red or green) is used to indicate the correct installation of various parts.

31. What is IsoFix?
IsoFix is a (new) attachment system for car seats in modern cars. Special IsoFix attachment points are installed in the car in the factory during production. This means that the car seat does not need to be installed in the car using the car seat belts. Car seats that are older than the past few years cannot be installed using this system. IsoFix seats have been specially designed for this system and are equipped with IsoFix adapters.

Quinny

1. Are loose adapters to attach my car seat available?

Loose adaptors are available for a number of products. Information on the models that offer this possibility can be obtained from us. You can either call us for more information or you can visit the JustKidding® store. If possible, bring the products in question to the shop so we can fit the items.

2. Can you attach a ride-along board to a Quinny stroller?

A stroller can support on average a load of 20 kilos. A ride-along board gives a much higher one-sided load than is good for a stroller. The use of a board of this kind can therefore drastically reduce the life of your stroller. Moreover, you forfeit the right to the factory guarantee by this “misuse”.

3. Does Quinny also do twin strollers?

No, Quinny does not have any twin strollers in its range.

4. What is the warranty on the Quinny stroller?

The Quinny stroller has a warranty of two years on manufacturing and material faults. You must retain your original receipt. All the details of the guarantee are carefully described in the user instructions and on the Quinny website under the section ‘”guarantee”. The Quinny website also states the exceptions and you will find a number of maintenance tips to extend the life of your product. Of course, we are also more than happy to provide you with assistance over the phone or in the JustKidding® Store.

Please contact one of our customer service representatives for further assistance or send an e-mail to: helpdesk@justkidding-me.com. To help you with any repairs and replacements, we always need to see your original receipt with the original puchasing date.

7. The tires on my stroller wear quickly. Can I do anything about this?

It is of course normal that the tires of a stroller, just like on a bicycle, wear with intensive usage. With the correct treatment, however, this can be reduced to some extent. Firstly, all air tires on the stroller should have the correct pressure (at least 1.5 bar). This reduces the friction. Pushing with soft tires and pushing the stroller in sharp corners without lifting up or pushing down results in premature and abnormal wear. Often the stroller is overloaded with a second child or heavy shopping so that the maximum carrying force is exceeded. This will also cause the tires to wear more quickly. It is possible to order new outer tires. Please contact us for more information.

8. What are the dimensions of the Quinny-Dreami?

The total external dimensions (measured with the canopy up) are: Length x Width x Height; 84 x 48.5 x 59.7 cm, with a Net weight of 5 kg. The Dreami can be used up to a weight of about 9 kg.

9. Which bassinets can I place on my stroller?

BABYBJORN

 Babybjorn Carriers

How long can I carry my child in the baby carrier each time?
You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as he/she is content there. However, small children should not be motionless in the same position for long periods of time. That’s why we recommend that you always pay close attention to your child’s needs and switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a baby sitter, stroller or crib.

Is it safe for my child to suck and chew on the baby carrier?

Yes, all the fabrics in our baby carriers are tested and certified in accordance with Oeko- Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products, the class that has the most rigorous requirements. The Oeko- Text label means that all the fabrics are free from health-hazardous substances and allergens.
A lot of children suck and drool on the baby carrier when they are carried facing forward. To avoid having to wash the baby carrier too often, it’s good idea to use a BABYBJORN Bib for Baby Carrier. Naturally, this is also certified in accordance with OekText Standard 100, class 1.

How do I wash BabyBjorn Baby Carriers?

BabyBjorn Baby Carriers can all be machine-washed, warm (40C). Use a bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry.

Is it ok for my child to sleep in the baby carrier?

Yes! It’s fine for your child to sleep in a BabyBjorn Baby Carrier. In the baby carrier, your child gets the closeness and warmth he/she needs to fall asleep feeling safe. BABYBJORN Baby Carriers provide good support for the child’s back and neck, so you can carry your sleeping child for as long as he/she is satisfied. However, small children should not remain in the same position for extended periods. That’s why we recommend that you always pay close attention to your child’s needs and switch between the baby carrier and, for example, a baby sitter, stroller or crib.

Since the baby carrrier’s front piece is completely detachable, you can easily put your sleeping child down without waking him or her.

A good time to start using the Comfort Carrier is when your child is 3 months old and weighs at least 56kg/13lbs up to 14kg/31lbs.

You can use Baby Carrier Miracle from new born, as long as your baby weighs at least8.bs/3.5kg up to 26lbs/12kg.

I read on a web forum that baby carriers can cause hip dysplasia. Is that correct?
No, that is not correct. Your child cannot develop hip dysplasia or hip luxation by being carried in a baby carrier. Hip dysplasia, or hip luxation, is a congenital condition diagnosed through a medical examination. The notion that baby carriers can cause hip dysplasia is a misunderstanding and has no scientific foundation. This is confirmed by leading child orthopedists.

I read on a web forum that carrying a child facing forward in a baby carrier is not healthy. Is that correct?
During your child’s first months of life, he/she should not be carried facing forward as such a small child’s neck muscles are not yet sufficiently developed. Also, body and eye contact between you and your child is essential during these first months.

However, according to pediatricians and child psychologist, around four months of age, it is entirely natural for a child to want to and try to turn around, since at this age children begin to show an interest in what they see around them. In terms of the child’s physical development and the position of his/her back, hips and genitals, pediatricians and child orthopedists agree that at this age, the child can safely be carried facing forward as long as the child can hold his or her head up stably without assistance.

BABYLONIA

Babylonia BB-sling

Is this type of carrier safe for the development of my baby’s spine?

The basis of good posture begins with the pelvis. If this is well supported, the baby’s spine and neck will fall into a natural curve and the weight will be supported by the pelvis. To ensure a correct position, the baby’s knees should be higher than his pelvis, in a fetal position, or with his hips and legs properly supported. The baby’s back should be rounded with his head resting on your body. This is the ideal position for the development of healthy hip joints. The baby does not hang or rest his weight on his coccyx, but comfortably rest against the wearer. If the baby is in an upright position, it is essential that the legs do not dangle or hanging mid-air. This puts strain on the baby’s spine and the baby will tend to arch backwards creating a bad position for his neck too.

The fetal tuck is the most natural position for a baby. Not only is this position good for correct spinal and hip development, it allows him to rest and use his energy to develop other strengths. Does my baby’s head need to be supported?

If your baby’s pelvis is supported correctly as explained above, then her neck will follow a natural curve and her head will rest on your chest. She is free to lift her head when curious to look around and her neck muscles will strengthen quickly. There is no need for a head support, unless you are bending over.

How long can I safely carry my baby per day?

There are no limits. A baby well positioned in a sling can be carried as long as he and the wearer desire. Remember that babies around the world are carried throughout the entire day as the wearer continues about his or her daily tasks and activities.

Is it good for my own back?

If you have back problems, you should always consult with your doctor before using any baby carrier. This said, using a sling is probably one of the best ways to prevent back strain because the cloth carries the weight and not your arms and back as when you are simply holding your baby in your arms. Carry your baby each day and progressively extend the carrying time to allow your back muscles a chance to strengthen along with the baby’s weight gain.

At what age can I start carrying my baby and when should I stop?

The benefits of carrying premature babies – or kangaroo care – is well documented. A baby (full term or premature) can be placed in a baby carrier just after birth, creating a’womb with a view’. There are, of course, no problems starting later as well. Your back will strengthen as you carry your baby and his weight gains will mostly unnoticed. A baby can be carried as long as he wants. Even an older child will find a safe refuge in a baby carrier when tired with stimulations of the outside world.

Will my baby like being in a sling?

Babies crave close human contact. Once they are used to being carried, you will instinctively reach for your sling whenever your baby is fussy, can’t fall asleep, or just needs a reassuring presence. Some babies need a little adaptation time to a new position in the sling, especially on your back. Sometimes babies are unhappy in a sling because they feel insecure. This is often the result of not adjusting the sling tight enough. Follow the instructions carefully to make sure you wear your baby high tight. We are recommend trying new position when your baby is relaxed, just after eating or ready to fall asleep. Walk around after placing your baby in the sling for the first time or when trying a new position. This will distract him while he gets used to a new way of being carried. Most importantly, TRUST YOUR BABY. If your baby is uncomfortable, too tight, too hot, or whatever, he will let you know. If he is asleep or happily observing the world, then he is just fine. Carrying your baby close means you can often read his body language well before he starts to cry or tell you something is wrong.

Will my baby be able to breathe tucked into a sling?

Tucked snuggly into the sling, your baby is still able to move. If he is uncomfortable in anyway, he can turn his head or wiggle his body in protest. Either he will shift and rectify the situation, or you can help adjust him to a more comfortable position. Held close to you, your baby will synchronize his breathing to your heartbeat and the rise and fall of your chest. This stabilizes his respiration.

Will my baby be too hot or too cold in a sling?

Newborn babies are not capable of regulating their body temperature. The adult’s body will stabilize the baby’s body temperature when holding them close. Dress yourself and your baby accordingly. Remember that your body heat will be considered.

What are the dimensions of the Blooming Bath?

The Blooming Bath baby bath is 32 inches from tip to tip. The center of the flower, where baby’s bottom rests, is 10 inches across in diameter.

What is the recommended age for the Blooming Bath?

The Blooming Bath is ideal for newborns to 6 months. But because babies range so dramatically in size, there are no set age or weight limitations. The Blooming Bath is held up by the sides of the sink so it is more a matter of whether or not your sink can comfortably and safely accommodate your baby. Many parents also use Blooming Bath with traditional plastic tubs to create a plush, soft, safe and fun experience.

Does the Blooming Bath hold water?

The Blooming Bath does not hot water. You will need to first insert the stopper inside the drain, then fill up the sink to the desired level and desired temperature before inserting baby. Never run water directly on your baby as water temperature can change quickly.

CRANE

Humidifier

How do I disinfect the water tank and water basin?

Unplug humidifier from power source. Refer to instruction manual for detailed instructions. Fill water tank with 1 tablespoon or white vinegar in 1 gallon of water. Let stand twenty minutes, shaking vigorously with two hands every few minutes, drain and rinse with clean water until the vinegar smell is gone. Dry with a clean cloth.

Wipe the water basin with soft cloth dampened in 1 tablespoon of Crane humidifier cleaner or white vinegar to 1 liter (4 cups) of water. Rinse the water basin with cool water to remove any vinegar smell. DO NOT IMMERSE WATER BASIN IN WATER an electric shock may result or the humidifier may be damaged.

There may be some white lime or calcium deposits in the water basin and on the nebulizer. This is best cleaned by dampening a cloth with Crane humidifier cleaner or white vinegar, and then carefully wipes the nebulizer and the water basin until the visible deposits disappear. Wipe all exteriors surfaces of the base with a soft, dry cloth.

My humidifier is leaking water?

A cool mist humidifier generates a mist of water when in operation. If the humidifier is set continuously on high the water can condense on the surrounding surfaces. Adjust the humidifier so that you can see mist go up into the air not down onto a surface. It is normal to have water in water basin and under the top vapor lid. When moving water tank always have a towel ready to remove water from the top and bottom of the water tank. Make sure the humidifier is on a flat level hard waterproof surface. When you need to move the humidifier, remove the water tank from water basin and move each part separately.

What if the steam come out irregular and/or light switches from green to red back and forth?

Check water level, refill tank. Check power plug and try different wall outlet. Check water float and clean plastic ring and float.

Why is the water in the humidifier water basin yellow?

DO NOT let water sit in water tank and/or water basin for more than 24 hours. Water must be changed every 24 hours. Water left in water basin over 24 hours may damage nebulizer. DO NOT SCRATCH NEBULIZER MEMBRANE!

Can I add a liquid aroma, or a liquid medicine in the humidifier water tank?

DO NOT ADD any liquid other than water as this can damage the nebulizer in the water basin.

DIAPER CHAMP

Why should I use the DiaperChamp instead of a normal trash bin?

If you don’t want to smell the previous diaper when you put the new one in you will have to use an odourless diaper pail. The most economical system is The Diaper Champ because this is the only odourless diaper pail in which any bag can used. You won’t have to buy the expensive refill cassettes because you can use a normal plastic bag.

How can I change the bag without odour leaking?

You can change the bag by pressing the handle with 1 hand and pull the upper part up, the bag is now still in the bagholder and the upper part of the Diaper Champ is still attached to the bag. Then squeeze the most upper part of the bag and press with your other hand on the button to make sure the bagholder is removed from the upper part. Pull the bag out of the pail and throw the bag away. (See the instruction video on the website)

How can I check if I use the right bag?

When you place the bag through the bagholder, the lower part of the bag should hit the bottom of the Diaper Champ. In that case a heavy (full) bag can never fall down. Watch out; from the outside you cannot see the plastic bag, if you can see a part of the bag, the bag is probably fold up over the pail instead of through the bagholder. The upper part of the plastic bag should be folded in the pail and not over the outside of the pail. If the bag is not placed in a correct way odour can leak out. Please check the instruction video on the website.

I cannot turn the handle anymore, what is the problem?

There might be a cloth or a baby wipe between the reverse piston of the Diaper Champ. When the handle is in a horizontal position you can pull off the upper part. You can easily clean the Diaper Champ by taking it apart, please check the instruction video on the website to see how you can take apart the different pieces of the Diaper Champ. The Diaper Champ can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Please be aware that the silicon rings and the piston cannot be placed in the dishwasher, these pieces can be harmed by too strong cleaning agents.

How often should I change the bag?

We advise to change the bag every 3 days, of course this depends on the odour of the diapers. When your baby only drinks milk the odour is less intense versus who eats meat and vegetables. In summer when the temperature is rising it’s necessary to change the bag more often. We also advise to ‘air’ the pail of the DiaperChamp once a week (outside) because odour can be sticked to the plastic.

If my DiaperChamp is leaking odour, what can be the problem?

Please check the following:

Is the bag placed in the right way? This means you cannot see (a piece) of the bag from the outside of the Diaper Champ, the bag should be placed through the bagholder and the upper part of the bag should be folded around the bagholder. If the bag is not placed in the right way odour can leak out.

Odour can be sticked in the plastic pail, you can clean the pail and let air outside for atleast an hour.

The handle of the DiaperChamp should always be in a horizontal position; only in this position the Diaperchamp is odour free. When you turn the handle and the bag is almost full little odour can leak out but when the handle is in the horizontal position again the DiaperChamp is odour free.

Use the right plastic bag, it should hit the bottom and cannot be too thin.

After some years the silicon rings can be worn out, when you checked the option above and the DiaperChamp is still leaking odour, please inform JustKidding® aftersales service.
